GLOBE at Night
This is a little late for involvement, but nonetheless an interesting read. The GLOBE at Night project aims to get user input about light pollution around the world. During March 16-28, they asked people to view the night skies from their location and record how many stars in the Orion constellation were viewable. They then plotted this information around the world to show the effects of light pollution.
